Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a tree planting event with Reverend Paul in Byron. When I arrived, I thought of my grandma Mabel (Cecile), and her love of trees. I took a look around and found a few Maple trees that were planning on being planted. Mabel’s favourite kind of tree was a red maple. I found a tree that had some red in the leaves and decided that this would be the one that I would plant in her honour.
Mabel was a long time serving member at Mount Zion and many people knew her for her crafts. I, Kyle Van Alstyne, am her grandson and am glad I had a chance to get to know her in my life.
Here is a photo of the one I decided to plant. I look forward to seeing its progress in the years to come.
