Joanne Ruth Fordham

July 24, 1936 - March 1, 2024

Peacefully passed away in her 88th year, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her loving husband Wayne, sister Betty and brothers Stuart and Bruce. Cherished and devoted mother to Kim (Steve) Hankinson and Lisa (Ian) Coutts. Dear grandma to Lauren (Jack), Matti (Amber), Therran (Danielle), Johanna (Kevin), and Nolan. Adored great grandma to Charlee. Loved dearly by nieces MaryAnne, Cathy, and Nancy. Special grandma to all her grand-dogs over the years.

Joanne enjoyed a fulfilling career as a registered nurse at London Health Sciences Centre. She volunteered her time with various charitable organizations, including Jesse's Journey; and was an active member of Mount Zion United Church. Joanne belonged to Beta Sigma Phi where she developed many life-long friendships with her sorority sisters.

Joanne was an avid fan and supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Joanne treasured time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed an active lifestyle, going for long walks, crocheting, playing euchre, and cooking delicious meals for her family.

Joanne was an incredibly generous and caring person. She was loved by many and her presence will be deeply missed by all.

A graveside service at Exeter Cemetery will take place at a later date this spring.

Donations in memory of Joanne can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Mental Health Association.


John Alexander Lapier

October 8, 1969 - February 15, 2024

Loving and loved husband of Sheila, father to Mitchel (Courtney), Evan (Nadine), Jordan and Kayleigh. Grandfather of Lily and Atticus. Survived by his parents Rosalea (Pat) Lapier and Robert Lapier, his Uncle Harold (Bea) and cousins. Brother in law to John MacDonald, Uncle to Amber and Logan. Son-in-law of Kris Long and David Bushell. Friend to the “crew” and would drop anything for anyone. Paw parent to many.

John worked hard in life in the culinary industry since a teenager. John obtained a Red Seal Chef distinction in 1996.

John loved everyone wholeheartedly. He was an avid member of the church and helped those less fortunate whenever he could.

Our rock is gone

The love of my life left against all of our wishes

10 years isn’t long enough

My children want their father, I want my husband

It will never be the same

Eric Hamm

October 4, 1950 - February 13, 2024

Survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years in June, Nancy Lynn (nee Kelly).
Brothers Steve, David (Samantha), Chris, half sister Ruthanne Smith. Sisters Vicky Stoyles, Pamela Hamm, Cathy (Tab) Bowland, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Cecil Eugene Hamm and Gladys Catherine (nee Holmes). Eric came from a military family where he served from 1969-1971 and then joined the reserves after his service. He loved his trucks where he had his own towing business.

In lieu of flowers Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.


John Comrie

It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of John Comrie at University Hospital, on Monday, November 6, 2023, in his 85th year. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Jean. Loving father of William (Tina), Catherine (Fred), and Peter (Jen). Adored Papa of Christie (Cam), the late John (2001), Maja, Brycen, Nick (Kainah), Jordyn (Patrick) and Jacob. Dear Great-Papa of Leo, Miles, Delilah, and Violette. Predeceased by his brother Tommy (2013) (Elspeth), and his sister Grace (2021) (Walter, 2012). Also loved by his nieces Jan and Elizabeth, and his nephew Stuart.

John was born in Crieff, Scotland, on May 10, 1939 to William and Elizabeth Comrie. The family moved to the town of Alva where he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Jean. In 1974, they moved their young family to London, Ontario, where he worked as a painter until his retirement from UWO in 2002. After retirement, John enjoyed spending time golfing with friends, and listening to his oldies music in which Guy Mitchell reigned supreme. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Peacefully following a brief illness, Jean passed away on August 24th, 2023 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her loving husband Alec (2002).
Devoted mom to Elaine (Richard) Horner, Brian (Trish) Embury, Doug Embury (predeceased), Carole McFadden, and Lorraine Embury, and Stephen (Julie) Embury. Special grandma to Dana, Rachelle, Ruth Anne, Melissa, Emily, David, Kelly, Brittany, Kaitlyn, and Devon. Great-grandma to Beth, Dani, Katelyn, Emily, and Bailey. Caring sister of Melvin (Anna) McRae, and Lois (Irvin) Dramnitzke. She will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Clare Lockman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence Jesse Lockman at University Hospital in London, Ontario on Saturday, August 5th, 2023. Clare is survived by his two step children Maxine Kibler of West Kelowna, BC and Murray Kibler of Toronto. Beloved son of the late Edna Gertrude Walden and Cecil E. Lockman, he was predeceased by his dear wife Norma Helen Lockman and his dear sisters Ruth Brady and Jeannette Lockwood and brother Don Lockwood.

Clare was a long time active member of Mount Zion United Church and spent his working years as a printing press operator at Hearn Kelly Printing Company. He will be laid to rest beside Norma in the Sanctuary (columbarium) at Woodland Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this year with the date and location to be announced.

With sadness, we announce that one of our long-time Mount Zion members,  Lloyd Courtney, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Please keep Lloyd's family in your prayers.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 1 pm at Mount Zion United Church with Rev. Charmain Bailey and Rev. Paul Browning officiating. A reception will follow in the Lower Hall.

Rev. Marilyn Carter

On April 13th 2021 Rev. Marilyn passed away. There will be a Memorial Service for Rev. Marilyn on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 at 1:30 pm. It will be held at Mt. Zion United Church with Rev. Paul Browning officiating. This will be a time for all of us to celebrate Rev. Marilyn's life, and especially how she touched the hearts of so many of us at Mt. Zion.
